Beyond providing affordable items to the public, proceeds from the shop directly support programs that serve needy children, neglected and abused women, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Through this work, the Thrift Shop extends the church’s mission of compassion and service, ensuring that every purchase and donation helps meet real needs within the community.

Financial Outreach

Beyond being a treasure house of goods with friendly workers and a relaxed shopping environment, the St. Thomas Thrift Shop is also a ministry of the Church, and one of its principal sources of financial outreach to the community. For well over fifty years, the St. Thomas Thrift Shop & Boutique has provided funding for local charitable organizations. In recent years, disbursements have averaged $15,000 – $20,000 annually.

Grant Application For Thrift Shop Funding

Local organizations that support children in need, the homeless, or women who have experienced abuse are invited to submit application to receive grants from the Thrift Shop. Funds are disbursed two times throughout the year, once in the spring and once in the fall.

Application periods are March 1 to 31 and September 1 to 30. A paper application can be printed here.

Thrift Shop Disbursements

In 2025, the St. Thomas Thrift Shop & Boutique disbursed over $23,000 in outreach grants, supporting local schools and community organizations that provide essential services, educational opportunities, and compassionate assistance to individuals and families in need.

Camp Boggy Creek

Founded in 1996, Camp Boggy Creek enables camp experiences for children with medical conditions or disabilities which would prevent them from being able to attend a traditional children’s camp. The camp operates year round and beyond the joys of the camp experience—horseback riding, fishing, and so many more activities—provides children with severe illness fellowship with other children who can share their similar life experiences, and remind them that none of them is alone.

The Haven

Founded in 1977, The Haven provides emergency support to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. They maintain a 24 hour hotline for crisis intervention, emergency shelter, food, and clothing for those fleeing violent households, counseling, advocacy, and also training for law enforcement officers.

Open Door

Open Door is a local outreach organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity in the Lake County area. The program provides essential services such as hot meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, and assistance connecting with housing and employment resources.

Eustis High School

Eustis High is a cornerstone of the local community, providing students with a strong academic foundation and opportunities for personal growth through athletics, the arts, and career programs. Thrift Shop funds have supported Project Graduation, helping ensure seniors celebrate their achievements safely and responsibly while marking this important milestone.

Eustis Elementary School

Located just across from St. Thomas, Eustis Elementary fosters a nurturing environment focused on learning, respect, and community. Grants from the Thrift Shop have provided hygiene supplies, utility assistance, and classroom support, directly helping students and families in need.

Feed My Sheep Ministry

Through the generosity of the Thrift Shop, proceeds from sales help sustain another vital St. Thomas ministry—the Feed My Sheep Ministry. This outreach provides free Saturday breakfasts and monthly community dinners for those in need, filling a gap left by weekday-only programs. Thrift Shop funding covers food and supplies, turning a small effort into one of the parish’s most meaningful ministries and ensuring no one in our community goes hungry.

Treadway Elementary School

Treadway Elementary School – Treadway Elementary serves a diverse student body with a mission to inspire curiosity and lifelong learning. Support from the Thrift Shop has helped provide school uniforms, food, rent, and utility assistance to families facing hardship, ensuring students can focus on learning in a stable environment.

Spring Creek Charter School

Through the Thrift Shop’s outreach, the school has received assistance for field trips and after-school activities, giving students opportunities to learn and explore beyond the classroom.
